First, I want to start off with everything is going to be fine with the pregnancy. So please do not worry when reading. =) On Wednesday I woke up with cramping in my stomach, as the morning went on and I went to the restroom there was a small amount of blood. I was told at my last ultrasound that if there was any dark blood then that would be old blood an normal. If it was bright pink or red then that was new blood and safest to call the doctor. When I saw it I stayed calm and didn't know if I should call or wait to see if stopped. So I went on to work and then noticed a bit more blood and called the doctor. I went left work and went to the doctor.
In the office the nurse came in with the Doppler to try and hear a heartbeat. She warned me that we may or may not hear the beat, if we don't do not worry, because I am early in pregnancy and can be hard to hear the beat. But sure enough we heard it!! Seeing the heartbeat and hearing the heartbeat to me were two different experiences.Of course they are both great, but hearing that beat is really an amazing and emotional moment. I was so sad Rusty was not there to hear it. He will have his chance soon. Once we heard the heartbeat I thought I was done and I could go back to work feeling much better. But we still had to find out where and why the blood was there.
So I had an exam then he scheduled me an ultrasound the next morning (which by the way I feel all my time is spent going to appointments anymore) That morning I went to the ultrasound. This baby is crazy. It now looks much like a baby, it has it's two arms, and two leg, and its body shape, and it MOVES like crazy. The lady who did the ultrasound could not stop talking about how much it was moving, it was kicking its legs, standing up, turning around, we even got a picture of the face straight on (that picture was a bit scary) I asked if it was okay and normal to move that much, she stated all is okay heartbeat is normal, no stress on baby. But that she never sees them move around so much. Which scares me because when it gets bigger I will get to feel it constantly.

I felt at ease once MY doctor called with the his medical input Where the last doctor told me that more than likely the placenta will stay low and I will have a C-section, my doctor stated that its probable that as I grow the placenta will move high so that placenta previa would no longer be an issue, which we are all hoping for, because not running, and taking an easy is not fun. But baby's safety is number one right now so doctor's orders is what I must follow. I had to stop looking up previa because all you do is scare yourself into the worst case scenario. As of now I am scheduled for my next appointment in 4 weeks, all is okay and I will keep you all updated!
We'll keep you guys in our prayers! We (and by we I mean me :)) want a girl too!
ReplyDeleteMelissa,
ReplyDeleteYou are the best daughter-in-law! Thank you for taking the time to keep us in the loop. I forgot how to find the blog - but now I have and got caught up. I've read your postings over the phone to Grannie B. I've forward your blog to Baby Atwell's Great Aunt.
I talked to a friend at work who also had Placenta Previa with her second child. She said the baby or placenta did move up and she was able to have it normally.
You are doing a great job of taking care of you and your baby. Remember - one day at a time. Remember to draw your strength from God for everything that comes in life. God is your source to give you strength, peace, and love.
We love you, Rusty and baby Atwell.
Thanks for coming down. It was great to see you both and I hope to see you again soon. Sorry the game was so lopsided. The good side, BU did beat KSU yesterday.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy keeping up with things through your blog and I’m sure all will be ok. Love to you both.
