Boy or Girl??

December 13, 2010 we went to the doctors to find the sex of the baby. This weekend my in laws, Steve and Terri were in town, so it worked out perfectly to where they would be able to share in the experience with us. So that morning at 8:30 I started to get a bit nervous and anxious walking into the office I just really wanted to know if we had a son or daughter!. I really really had my heart set on having a girl. The day before this appointment we went to Leavenworth KS for Steve and Terri to meet up with some old friends. During this visit we went to a PX and looked at all kinds of baby stuff.. Terri and I were stuck in the girls section looking at all the clothes we could buy, and I was looking at all the Christmas Dresses I could buy for next year. Then we went to the boys section to look at "all" of their clothes. The only thing I liked in the boys sections were the little sweaters and the dress pants and ties. =) Either way it went I would still be excited and happy we were going to have a child period.
Back to the appointment, Rusty had thought that maybe the doctor could place the sex of the baby in an envelope so that only he could see, and I would have to know later (he just wanted to know before I did) the only reason to this thought was because our other friends who are pregnant as well did this, and this is because the mom wanted to find out the sex with the rest of her family present, which I completely understand.  But not I, I was too anxious and needed to know ASAP, I think Rusty's parents were just as anxious. So his idea was debunked. The doctor as soon as he came into the room asked if we knew the sex, we said no, he asked if we wanted to know, we said yes, and he asked me is the baby going to participate, I said YES! So the very fist moment the ultrasound came up was of the baby's behind, the perfect view to see what it was. So he explains there are the cheeks, below that there are three lines!! As soon as I see and hear three lines I thought its a boy! Terri and I looked at each other, then he went on to explain that these are female parts and its a GIRL!! I squealed with happiness, I was a bit overwhelmed and very very happy as was Terri, we had another look and hugged. I then asked the doctor if he was sure, and if we could check again before I left. He said hes fairly positive and that he would check again, then he wanted to bet me $50.00 on it. I'm not Rusty, so I didn't go on with the bet.
The rest of the video is him going through the parts of the baby, the brain, heart, spine, kidneys, face, fingers toes, the baby seems to be perfect! We are so happy. As for Pregnancy Previa, the placenta moved up which is in the right direction, I am waiting till Tuesday to find out fore sure if it is gone. We went to eat breakfast and continued to talk about the baby girl and tell the rest of Rusty's family.

My family at this point still does not know and are anxious to find out, but we made the video, and this is how we were going to tell them, so they unfortunately had to wait till 6pm that evening and we knew at 8:30am.  They were very ready to find out when they finally did.  So once I took Steve and Terri to airport to leave, I headed home to get the video and show family. I was not able to hook up to the television, which would have given a better picture because for some reason it was not showing on the camera but on the memory card, so we had to go to my parent computer and load it there, so imagine 6 people gathered around a computer screens trying to be as quite to hear the doctor speaking and see the screen. But they did amazing at hearing and paying attention to hear the doctor just say these are female parts to have my sister scream, "Its a girl?" looking at me, then my mom after say the same exact thing, and I confirmed, so then the jumping and crying and screaming began. They were so excited. We all wanted a girl, my sister has two boys, so we thought a girl would be a nice addition. After that I was exhausted with the entire day of emotion. I will have to get some of my sisters pictures she made signs for both girl and boy. It was a fun and exciting weekend now the shopping and preparing begins, I feel I have so much to do. Rusty and I took off a week in January to start painting the baby's room along with other rooms in house, I will probably clean and get baby's room kind of ready, although we have 5 more months, we have a feeling it will go by really fast! So here;s to baby girl Atwell. ;)
