Potty Traning

Pink potty chair
I originally tried to potty train before Brooke was here but stopped and decided to wait to after baby to prevent any regression because of a life change. A friend posted a picture of how to train your child in three days, with lots of comments on how it works! This kind of put a fire under my behind because I have been putting of potty training for so long because I was not looking forward to this stage. I am a very disciplined person and would be great at the training, but its just work I  didn't want to do. So I started Tuesday because I am off Tues-Friday and had days to be able to stay home and work on it. This was another 3 day training where you pretty much keep your child naked for the first two days and place them on the potty every 10 - 20 minutes, and even after accidents place them on the potty to finish. The first day was constant stops to the bathroom and cleaning up after Sophia!  I have slight OCD and over sanitized this house with all the accidents on the floor. Towards the end of the day she started to go more on the potty. Wednesday we went to the store because we were out of groceries, but as soon as we got home it started again. A couple of accidents in the morning, and from there she was going to the bathroom on her own. I noticed some signs she had to go, so I would initiate her going to potty, but towards the end of Wednesday she was going all on her own!!! She even went poop on the potty on her own!! Day three we woke up and started again, they say by this day they are potty trained, but we introduce panties. So I had some cotton underwear I bought from the first time I started this process and she did have one accident in the morning. Accidents are normal on day three because they now have panties that they may feel like it was supposed to be a diaper. After this one, she had no more until later in the evening. Part of the training is no distractions and to stay in the house, but I needed to run some errands, so I put a diaper on and ran them as fast as I could. When we got home I placed her on her potty and she went. checked the diaper and it was bone dry!! I was so ecstatic. Her only accident was later that night when we did a quick drive for Sonic ice cream. I think the only reason this happened is I did not put her on the potty before we left like I did on the last outing.

Day three introduced underwear
She's such a good girl, and I tried my hardest to keep patients during the whole process.  The first two days were rough but the third and on was a lot easier. It's a lot to keep up with watching Brooke, feeding and changing while keeping a constant eye on Sophia, picking up messes all day long, fussiness from both girls, Brooke is teething and Sophia would fight a bit on going potty, it was a little stressful, the first day as soon as Rusty got home I said, : I'm going on a run, quickly got dressed and left the house for a quiet run!! I am very proud of Sophia she is such a good girl. I am a little saddened by the potty training it just means she is getting older and moving on to the next stage. She looked so grown up in her big girl pants! This is really saving us on diapers. Now almost a week of potty training, she has gotten a lot better. Still have accidents which I expect, but she will run to the bathroom when she has to go, unless she is doing something she is in to, like watching Bubble Guppies, playing games on our phones, or playing outside, I have to remember to ask her if she has to go potty, if not she will have an accident.

I am happy we have started this stage because I had been dreading it! But the sooner the better and she was ready. She's growing up!
