This week has been a tough one, and not really with the pregnancy! Last Saturday Rusty informed me that he was really sick and didn't feel well. He sounded sick over the phone, of course I believed him and felt bad, but at the same time...he is such a baby when he is sick. lol When I am sick I don't complain, and try to get over it as fast as i can, I take medicine and do what ever I have to do to get better. He takes no medicine and just lays around the house waiting for it to go away. So I have been playing nurse, asking if he has taken his medicine, trying to feed him (my bad cooking) and disinfecting the house, and trying not to catch what he has. (Which I kind of like to do, take care of someone) So Monday comes along and he has to go to work, he is really sick at this time and I tell him he has to go to the doctor, so before he goes to work we go to the doctors, turns out he has a fever and strep throat, he could barely speak, so he called into work and took 2 days off, he needed to get better. So the two days pass, I have managed not to get sick and he is feeling a bit better, then Wednesday comes we both go to work and when we are off I usually call him, and he tells me he has had a really bad day, his mind is foggy and he is stressed. Rusty's job can be non stop and stressful, there are claims coming in constantly he has to deal with in a certain time frame, and it doesn't help that he is still sick, I felt real bad.
So Wednesday I pull into the garage and see Rusty's car is not home and then he calls me and says I'm coming to get you, I say okay. Then he calls again, before I even get into the house and says "Don't freak out." I say "Okay, he then says horrible words..."Heidi got hit by a car!" When he said this there were so so many things and questions running through my mind!!! I wanted to know how she was, how did it happen, is she okay, I just did not want this to happen to her. So Rusty was still close to house and he came back to get me. As I got in the car to look at my poor Heidi she was so scared and not herself. She would not even look at me when I called her name or spoke to her. I didnt see any blood, and she was walking on all 4 legs, so I thought she has to have some kind of internal damage, I had no clue. I asked Rusty 100 questions about what happened and I tried so hard not to get mad at him.
Our mailbox is across from our house, when Rusty gets home sometimes he lets Heidi out with him to get the mail. Heidi is a dog that does not leave our side, so of course she follows us where ever we go. I saw Rusty do this one time before, when I saw it I told Rusty NOT to do this, do not make her think its okay to cross the street. But as he was coming back across the street Heidi stopped on the opposite side to go potty as Rusty already came back to our side. Once she finished a car was coming up the street (it was dark outside) and the car hit Heidi as she was crossing. From what Rusty said it broke the cars bumper and Heidi had a horrible yelp. The guy who hit Heidi felt horrible he is a dog lover and even called later in the evening to check on Heidi. It was all an accident.
It took forever for me to get this out of Rusty. He was miserable, he felt so guilty, sick and saddened by what happened, I knew I could not be mad at him. He holding back tears, it was just a bad mistake and accident, no one planned this. My poor Rusty and poor dog both in bad condition. Of course we get the whole speech from the doc about using a leash, and we know we should but Heidi always goes out in our back yard, it's not like we have her running the streets, but we will definitely learn from this!!It was a miracle, once the doctor looked her over she had no internal bleeding, she had no broken bones, all she had was a medium sized gash above her hip. We were so thankful.

Our poor baby |
Heidi has never been in anything like this before, (except to get spayed) they put her under and got her stitched up, she was so drugged for the rest of the night. We had to get a cone to put on her so she would not bite out the staples. We did not use it the first night she never bothered the staples. We were so happy that on Friday when she was herself again, she had acted like nothing happened, she wasn't even limping or acted as if she was sore. But sure enough when I got home on Friday Rusty was there and told me she bit out her staples, so Saturday he had to take her to vet and get it fixed!! And now we have 2 weeks with Heidi wearing a cone. She ABSOLUTELY hates it.
She went through getting hit, put under, and stapled, now she has to suffer for 2 weeks with this horrible thing around her neck, she keeps bumping into walls and when she eats we have to just sit and watch her, because she does not have the collar on. Once again WE made the mistake with not placing the cone on in the first place...another lesson learned. Rusty is still sick and not feeling 100% yet, we have been to bed at 9:30 the past couple nights, we cant wait till these two weeks are past, when Heidi and Rusty are both 100% better and we can all be stress free!

My Valentine! |

His Valentine! |
Saturday night we celebrated our Valentine's Day. Rusty's parents had gotten us a gift card to Lidia's Italian in Kansas City for Christmas, and we said we would save it for V day. So we said lets forget about this week for one night and have a good dinner...and it was. We got there and everyone was drinking wine...I wanted a glass really bad, but of course did not. the place was real nice, service was great, the appetizer, salad and desert was delicious..the main course...was....okay. They had a V day menu and almost everyone around us got the same thing, it was a 3 course meal, and the main dish was three of their different pasta dishes, only one of the ravioli, with some semi sweet squash and almonds decent. But we really liked the place and think that we just got the wrong item, we should have ventured off and did something else. A friend of mine said I should have gotten a fish dish, she raved about their fish. We said we will go back for sure!! Although Rusty had a bad week, he got me some Godiva chocolates which were oh so yummy!! And on Friday had roses sent to my work. He is so sweet.

Inspiration room for Baby Atwell |
Baby Atwell news- no real new news, she is still very active, and it is just so funny how she is the MOST active right when I lay down to go to bed, every single night, it never fails. (I know she cant mean to do this, but I almost feel she may have Rusty's sense of humor by doing a stunt like this. loll) It doesnt bother me too much I eventually fall asleep. But by her movements I can definitely tell she is getting bigger. Before when she moved I felt just a small flutter in one area, now she kicks and moves her hands I swear I feel both in two different areas. Its still so neat to feel,oh and see, after V Day dinner she was moving like crazy, and it didn't feel so well because my stomach was so very full already! I think I have found a crib and dresser from work, and next weekend we are going to repaint the baby's room. I need to start seeing progress, I don't want to rush around last second!
Well, that's about all in this very very active week, we are hoping for a better next week.Take care. =)
