This Thanksgiving was a bit more stressful than past ones. We were used to flying with Sophia and had down packing, entertaining her and going through the airport and security. But this was the first time we flew with the four of us. I know it's only adding one more child but I started to prep about two weeks before, mainly with a mental list of what to bring, and tried to condense the list of things I needed because I started to get overwhelmed with the amount I would have to bring. It was a luxury only having to pack for myself. It all worked out well, I packed what we needed and had a good holiday.
I always prepare and expect the worse when flying with the girls, only to be pleasantly surprised they were both very good and enjoyed the whole experience. Sophia is at that age where she knows airplanes, sky, clouds and thoroughly enjoyed the exciting experience, she was so darn good. She had her leap frog and likes to take photos, on the way down we all couldn't get seats together so there was a gentleman next to her and she kept taking pictures of him, she said "say cheese" and would point the camera at him and take a pic. It was so funny. Brooke did amazing, not a peep. I was worried on how she would fly, Sophia was a great traveler, and thought maybe Brooke wouldn't be, only because I couldn't be that lucky to have it so great with both right? But blessed I am they are both good making it less stressful....so far anyways.
We got in late and had to go to bed due to we had our family traditional Turkey Trot 5k in the morning. This is when Sophia broke down, it was late she was tired, we were in a new place and she did not want to sleep. Needless to say Rusty, Sophia and I all slept in the queen bed, she is not a straight up and down sleeper. I was determined to beat Rusty and by brother in law, and sure enough I did! Goal was 24 minutes, but it was 26. I know I could have done 24, but there was too many walkers, and dog clusters you had to zig zag through. But again it was a fun family activity to do, I do look forward to it each year.
This Thanksgiving we went out to eat instead of the traditional dinner at home. It was a buffet of Thanksgiving goodness. It was a bit different and the line was extremely long, Sophia didn't to do well we spent the meal trying to entertain and please her, which was not fun and took a way from the experience a little bit.
We also had a ceremony for Terri and Steve's 30th wedding anniversary. She did a great job planning decor, food flowers ect. It was a very sweet and emotional ceremony, they are a very in much love couple still after 30 years with great 3 children they have raised. I am excited to see the photos.
Like all Thanksgiving trips to Dallas, they go too fast, but I always look forward to the run, Thanksgiving, food, movies, spending time with family its a little vacation away from home. Its always fun to catch up and laugh with the family
