She's One!!!

May 9,2012 our Sophia turned one year old. We celebrated on Saturday May 5th at our house. I had been planning for a while looking and researching different ideas but once it got to that week I started my new job, Rusty was out of town and Sophia had started a new daycare (WHICH BY THE WAY DIDN'T WORK OUT VERY WELL. TALENTED TOTS= HORRIBLE) it flew by with not much time to get all I wanted done, but it all fell together well I think.
It was a nice day, I wanted to have it at our house just because it is her home, although it didn't provide that much space. I moved all the living room furniture out of the living room and placed long tables for people to sit at. I guess if there was any theme it was cupcakes, and pink/white color theme. We had Rusty's smoked pulled pork sandwiches, deli sandwiches, potato salad, cole slaw, and chips. And for desert we had tirimisu cupcakes which were SO amazing (thanks Dad) and strawberry cupcakes as well. We had chocolate fondue with strawberries and bananas! All guests had little cupcakes to where they put their wishes for Sophia, I am saving them all with some keepsakes for her when she gets older. She had so many little cute and adorable dresses given to her. She also has shoes now...who would have thought! We are getting better at walking in them, she is slowing no longer my little hippy baby. I twas a good time with family and friends, we all enjoyed celebrating the life of Sophia.
Sophia turning one to me was bittersweet! I can't believe she has now already had all of her firsts, they are all gone =( she is growing so fast I can't stand it. Although at the same time I love to see her grow into her own person. She is so fun and cute. The girl is now practically running she walks so so fast. She loves to play ball, she will throw it to you (kind of) and she likes to give you her mean look!! lol It is so bad and so funny at the same time. When she throws her little fits and she is mad she will scrunch her eyebrows and look at you with a mean girls face. I try not to encourage it, but it is too funny,
Rusty and I are a bit scared of what we have coming, her fits are getting more frequent and we can just imagine how it will get. I think all kids throw fits we just have to find a way to deal with it. We have so far been ignoring them, once she sees no one is really paying attention, she seems to get out of the fit and back to her normal self. Seems to be working so far. =) She is still a really good girl though, she only throws any fits if she is tired or sick, and usually only when we are at the house.

As for her speech, she thinks everything is dada, she points at all kinds of things and says dada! She also whispers "was dat" and points every time she hears something or sees something, which is adorable. She will say mama on occasion, she loves her Elmo and any big soft stuffed bear, she loves to hug them. She does babbling still, she will pretend to read books. She likes to fake you out, she will act like she is running to you, then she stops and will run the other way. She still loves to dance, and will really get into it. One day we were acting silly (more like I was acting silly) and jumping around and dancing to some music. Sophia decided to join and started to dance with me, she was shaking her head side to side letting her hair hit her face, she got a good laugh.
Well, it was a fun exciting year filled with lots of fatigue, happiness, laughs, confusion, fear, doubt, success and most of all love. We are so happy we became parents, it truly is a great blessing. We can't be any more happy. I can only imagine this next year will be even better. We love you Sophia.
